The aim of the OECD two-day mission was to map the conditions in Slovakia in the fight against corruption and fraud in Euro-funds. This was the first personal working meeting of representatives of the international organization with the Slovak governing and control bodies, which is part of the annual project between the Office of the Deputy Prime Minister of the Slovak Republic for Investment and Informatization and the OECD. The outcome of the project will be an action plan, i.e. a set of particular measures to combat corruption in Euro-funds.
„This working meeting was carried out on the basis of the Memorandum of Cooperation I signed in May with Mari Kiviniemi, Deputy Secretary-General of the OECD,” said Deputy Prime Minister Richard Rasi. “In particular, the OECD representatives acquainted themselves with the institutions that will become their Slovak partners during the next year, and with their powers,” he added.
The OECD mission led by Janos Bertok, who is the Director of the Public Sector Integrity Division, met in two days with several representatives of Ministries responsible for implementation of the Operational Programmes, the Supreme Audit Office, the Public Procurement Office, and the Office of Government.
The OECD representatives appreciated the high professional level of Slovak partners, as well as their open access and ambition to adopt systemic measures towards further expansion of anti-corruption measures in the Slovak Republic. The two-day mission, held on 25 and 26 July, was the first event scheduled by July 2019.
